Safety Hi-Tech Announces Launch of IMO Approved Equivalent Fixed Gas Fire Extinguishing Systems Components for Machinery Spaces and Cargo Pump Rooms

ROME, Jan. 4, 2010/ -- NAF S 227 Fire Extinguishing Systems have successfully completed test protocol IMO MSC/Circ. 848 as amended by IMO MSC.1/Circ. 1267. The relevant DNV MED EC Type-Examination Certificate no. MED-B-5573 has been issued.

According to the new MSC.1/Circ. 1267 the concentration of agent to be used in the fire extinguishing tests should be 77% of the manufacturer’s recommended design concentration thus providing an additional safety factor compared to the previous requirement of MSC/Circ.848. All type approvals conducted in accordance with the previous requirements should remain valid until 1 July 2012.
